Heroes, influences, colleagues

When I worked at a Big Tech Co. a couple of years ago, one time my manager asked me to prepare for our one-on-one biweekly or so meeting with the quetsion "who I admire or want guide my career after". The intention was to help me shape my career path inside the company. I wrote Trent Reznor, Shigeru Miyamoto and Björk in the form. At the meeting, she just smiled and asked why I chose those.

On my home page there's a section called HEROES, which I've been both complimented as an interesting move and as a distracting piece of information and even as a "privileged" disclosure that other professionals can't afford and need to stick more to their core discipline.

I try not to have heroes, but this information is more a constant reflection of how I want to shape my career and why. I don't want to shape my career after a corporate leader or institutions are meant to just make money.
